SAE Institute and QANTM College welcomes you to a series of events with the purpose of bringing you the invaluable experience of creative professionals from the fields of Multimedia and Film. Our "WARM UP"" event will be divided into presentations of guest speakers. These industry speakers will provide an insight into their personal creative approach, explaining the process and aspects of their projects, while others will give an overview on issues of the current New Media Industry developments.

This event is free of charge and open to everybody with an interest in the creative field of media.

16:30: Nancy Mauro-Flude - performing artist
"I use technology (soft- and hardware) to broaden the definitions of time, place and space".
It is a presentation about the interaction between men and machine.
Nancy participated as an artist with DasArts and de Waag society. On top of that, she did several researches in this area.

17:30: Bob Timroff - "Second Life" specialist
Second life (SL) is a virtual world in where you move and live as an avatar. These environments are usally called MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). But in contrast to pc-, console- of on-line games like World of Warcraft, Second Life is indeed a virtual world. You don't have to hunt for treasures or complete missions. Everything you can do in the real (first) life, you can do in Second Life. And more! It is a virtal life occupying many marketeer and companies which are keeping a close eye.
Bob will tell more about this phenomenom and about Zebra DaSilva, an artist who is active in Second Life as a photographer and filmmaker. From artist to Second Life selfemployer. What are 'viral-games'? Viral Games are games which are played online by a customers, clients and users. the main goal is to collect e-mailaddresses and/or information about the targetgroups. Another benefit is showing your product / brand or message to a lot of people. manu companies are eager to have a viral-game, but often don't know where to begin of what the effect will be of the game. A presentation about the challenges one comes across during the development of viral-games for clients. (Bram is working Leylines and Wesley for Mediamonks.com)

Wat zijn 'viral-games'? Viral Games zijn spelletjes die door een suspect, prospect of klant online worden gespeeld. Het doel hiervan is om e-mailadressen en/of informatie over de doelgroep te verzamelen en om meer mensen met uw merk, product of boodschap in contact te laten komen. Veel bedrijven staan te springen om een viral-game, maar weten vaak niet waar ze moeten beginnen of wat het effect is van zo'n game. Een presentatie over de uitdagingen die men tegenkomt tijdens het ontwikkelen van viral-games voor klanten. (Bram en Wesley werken voor respectievelijk Leylines en Mediamonks.com)
